One of the biggest buzz words in the beauty industry for the past 10 years has been chemical peels. Whether they are dermal peels or enzymatic peels, these treatments have been used regularly to enhance the appearance of the skin, particularly as you age.

Skin peels performed today tend to be a quick process event, often applied before a big event (like your wedding) but are more popular as a maintenance procedure for their anti-aging properties and their ability to rebuild, strengthen, and repair from the inside out. They also, most importantly, re-surface the very top layer of the skin, smoothing out lines, evening skin tone, decongesting pores (depending on the type of peel that you use) and ensure the skin is left feeling lighter and brighter.

Dermal peels tend to fall into two different categories – chemical and enzymatic. Each offers different benefits for the skin and should be used for different skin types.

Dermal peels are now considered  ‘part of’ our normal skin routine. Previously they were only used to re-freshen and stimulate cellular turnover, but these days more commonly used to achieve targeted results and overcome skin concerns and conditions. These days dermal peels are a blend of high-end vitamins, peptides and anti-oxidants – beautifully crafted with AHA’s, BHA’s and enzymes in advanced delivery systems to ensure the skin is rebuilt, strengthened and repaired.

DERMAL PEELS

An effective anti-ageing treatment, dermal peels visibly improve your skin’s appearance. Hero ingredients typically included are your retinols (Vitamin A) and your AHA’s ( glycolic/lactic ) which are naturally occurring fruit acids and BHA’s ( salicylic ). The solution can cause (not always as every skin is unique) the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off, revealing regenerated skin. Perfect for skins looking for intense skin correction and transformation.

For best results, we recommend a course of dermal peels, applied over a six-week period, to deliver the best results for the skin. Some skin prepping may be required, but please call Museo Skin + Spa to discuss the correct preparation for your specific treatment as well as other facial modalities like skin needling which produce amazing results when combined with dermal peeling.

ENZYMATIC PEELS

Enzymatic peels are formulated using natural ingredients, most of which you could find in your pantry. Each of the ingredients used contains a natural acid, like lactic acid or citric acid, which again encourages the skin to regenerate by removing top-layer dead skin cells. The major benefit of enzymatic peels is that they are generally gentler on the skin, using enzymes of pumpkin and pomegranate for example – perfect for those with sensitive skin and as a stepping stone before moving onto dermal peels. All enzymatic peels offered by Museo include rich antioxidants, vitamins and minerals designed to also hydrate and nourish your skin while having your treatment.

Museo uses O Cosmedics Peels, which are based on medical strength actives – pure, chiral ingredients, biomimetic and encapsulated carriers. They are a synergy of nutrients to restore healthy cellular pathways. O Cosmedics point of difference is Biomimetic ingredients, which takes us one step further from cosmeceutical ingredients to COSMEDICAL ingredients to achieve cell optimization. All O Cosmedics peels include a mini facial process as they come with an Alginate mask step, which decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while completely rehydrating the skin due to its active ingredients This extra step in the O Cosmedics Peel process leaves you feeling relaxed and treated. It is about correcting your skin – not just peeling.
