Here at Museo, we have been banging on a lot lately about IPL – and it’s for good reason. If you have ever been into our Spa before, you know that we don’t rave about something unless we all love it and it’s absolutely incredible, tried and tested on our own Museo team. And IPL is one of those services that just continues to outstrip the others in performance.

IPL is the ideal option for instantly treating and clearing reddened skins with facial vascular blemishes such as broken capillaries, spider veins, thread veins, red spots and cherry angiomas. Regain an even balanced skin tone and treat skin discolouration issues, pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring and brown spots, your first treatment gives significant results.

IPL generally comes in two forms – for hair removal and for photo rejuvenation. Today we are talking strictly about IPL Photo Rejuvenation or using IPL to improve the look and feel of your skin. IPL Photo Rejuvenation can treat a variety of benign skin conditions, from age spots to sunspots, ageing, freckles and even redness or rosacea. This treatment offers great relief for customers looking for a gentle, non-invasive treatment that will dramatically improve the look of their skin.

IPL for Photo Rejuvenation utilises a broad spectrum light pulse that is absorbed by the target tissue, no matter whether that’s your face or your back or your décolletage, and in this process affects the surface of the skin, forcing the body to react. The light particles are then removed through your body’s normal process of rejuvenation and extra blood flow and cells are dedicated to your skin to assist in the healing process for the effect of the light pulse. By dedicating more resources to your skin, the body heals more than just the surface level affected by the light pulse – it will work to repair the whole area from the inside out, giving the skin a more even tone and texture and a more youthful appearance.

IPL for Photo Rejuvenation is usually done in a series of treatments to cause rapid rejuvenation of the skincells. Each treatment takes around 20 minutes and we generally recommend a course of 4-6 treatments to ensure really effective results. Winter is the perfect time for IPL for Photo Rejuvenation as the skin is often very sensitive to UV rays after treatment. We recommend using our Mineral Pro SPF Cream post-treatment to effectively protect your skin from sun damage and moisturise your skin post-treatment.
